Contrast myths versus the facts:

NIMBYS:

“Say no to a massive HUD housing project!”

FACT:

HUD has absolutely nothing to do with financing this new community. 100% of the proposed housing community will be privately financed, just like any other home or apartment community.

NIMBYS:

“extremely high-density housing project with … 2,000 residents.”

FACT:

These high quality, garden style apartments with high-end amenities will be medium
density at a little over 20 units per acre. Once it’s fully rented, this community is expected to
house about 220 seniors over age 55 and about 600 adults and children of all ages.

NIMBYS:

“This project is in the direct descent path of the Chandler Regional Airport.”

FACT:

This community, adjacent to nearby housing, will have zero impact on air traffic in Chandler.

NIMBYS:

The City of Chandler has offered 14 other locations for this project, but the Developer stated that they weren’t good enough to meet their “goals”

FACT:

The City’s list of potential sites included properties not zoned for residential use, properties not for sale, properties already proposed for other residential developments the City would not support, properties in the rezoning process for other developments, or sites far too small to accommodate the new community.

Dominium and its team conducted a thorough review of each and every one of the sites and met with City Staff to share their findings. None of the sites suggested by the City are feasible.

NIMBYS:

The new community “will include services and facilities for the ‘homeless”

FACT:

Rents in the new community will range from about $1,000 per month to about $1,400 per month.

The community will not offer services for the Valley’s homeless population.

NIMBYS:

“CRIME … With an additional 2,000 people in one plot of land we would need a significant increase in policing for the area.”

FACT:

Dominium’s comprehensive screening process for the community’s seniors and families will include extensive criminal background checks, credit checks, and a screening of past housing history to ensure residents are credit-worthy and in good standing.

Fear-mongering claims of increased crime have no factual basis in reality. Qualifying to rent at this community is more difficult than qualifying for a mortgage to buy a home.

Myths Vs. Facts On Dominium’s Chandler Project

Neighbors screaming “Not In My Backyard,” are knocking on doors to spread untruths that Dominium’s proposed gated community is a crime wave waiting to happen. These new homes will be priced so that teachers, fire fighters and cops can live there.

The NIMBY opponents call themselves “Keep Chandler Safe” – falsely suggesting that new seniors, families and Chandler residents will somehow compromise their safety and peace of mind.
